MAIN MENU - EDIT

COPY– CROP

The Copy item of the Edit menu of the photo editor software will copy the screen image onto the Windows Clipboard and can be pasted in the 32VerSee main window or any other Windows-based application.

This function can be accessed by the menu or by the Copy toolbar button regardless of its colour.

The Crop item of the Edit menu is only used to change the action response parameter of the Rect function.

The Copy item also sets the editing Rect function to its default action response parameter.

PASTE

Toolbar - Paste

This menu item of the photo editor software will copy the contents of the Windows Clipboard onto the main window The latter may contain any image from another application or from the screen by pressing Print screen key.

After pasting the clipboard in the photo editing program 32VerSee main window, the pasted image can be:

• Dragged with the mouse.
• Stretched or reduced and flipped by drawing a rectangular area.
• Eliminated by clicking the mouse outside the main window.
• Provisionally saved by clicking the mouse in the main window but not in the pasted area.
• Saved to a file by using the Save File menu item.

DO - UNDO

Toolbar - Do-Undo

When editing an image by stretching, pasting or flipping it, the image editor will save the last 9 edits, allowing both the undo and redo operations. The image editor or photo editing program will prompt when the 9 edits have been already done.

If you refresh the image, all edits will be wiped out.

Toolbar - Handy arrows

Flips the screen image horizontally, vertically or both with the pull down menu of the toolbar

Flipping may occur automatically when using Rect function of the free jpeg viewer

RECT FUNTION

Options - Rect Function

Although it requires a minimum area, selecting a rectangular area with the mouse on the main window of the free jpeg viewer and photo editor will produce different actions while releasing the mouse:

• When the Copy item of the Edit menu is checked, the Crop item is unchecked and the Copy toolbar button is grey.

Depending on the way the rectangular area is drawn on the main window of the free jpeg viewer and photo editor, the following actions will take place:

1. Upper left hand corner to bottom right hand corner:
   
   To Zoom up the selected area of the image to fit the main window of the photo editor.
   
   
2. Bottom left hand corner to upper right hand corner:
   
   Distorts the whole image proportionally to the selected area size to fit the main window of the photo editor.
   
   
3. Upper right hand corner to bottom left hand corner:
   
   Like case 2 and flipping vertically.
   
   
4. Bottom right hand corner to upper left hand corner:
   
   Like case 2 and flipping horizontally.

• When the Copy menu item is unchecked, the Crop menu item is checked and the Copy toolbar button is blue

Depending on previous cases, the different actions mentioned above will be:

1. The picture is cropped to a selected area and copied to the Windows Clipboard . This is the best way to copy a portion of an image to the Windows Clipboard because it does not change the size of the selected area. If the zoom was 100 before selecting the area, there will be no unnecessary loss in the quality of the image.
2. To stretch or reduce the picture to fit a selected area, allowing distortion.
3. Like case 2 and flipping vertically.
4. Like case 2 and flipping horizontally.

• While pasting and case:
  
  1. Fits pasted image onto the selected area.
  2. Like case 1 and flipping vertically.
  3. Like case 1 and flipping horizontally.
  4. Like case 1 and flipping horizontally and vertically.

TOOLBAR OF THE SOFTWARE

Copy-Crop.

The colour of the Copy button and checked item of the Edit menu of the editing program indicate the action response of the Rect function.

Using the Copy item of the Edit menu of the editing program sets the Copy toolbar button to its default colour grey and the Copy menu item will be checked.

Using the Crop item of the Edit menu of the editing program sets the Copy toolbar button colour blue and the Crop menu will be checked.

Paste.

When there are no contents on the Windows Clipboard, the Paste Edit menu item and Paste toolbar button of the jpg editing program are disabled

Do-Undo.

The Undo and Redo toolbar buttons are enabled when appropriate.

OPTIONS OF THE PROGRAM

Rect function

• The Misc tab of the Options form provides an Info mouse dialog box to determine whether information about the mouse pointer is provided in absolute co-ordinates from the upper left hand corner of the main window or the size of the rectangular area that is being drawn.

• The units of these measurements are chosen in the Scale dialog box of the same tab.
